JFD106: Cabin in the Woods, Father's Day, Mother's Day

Junk Food Dinner #106 is about to crawl in your ears and lay eggs in your brain!

After a long nerd out session, we settle in for an evening of debate (kind of)!

Up first, 5 friends go on a vacation to a domicile in the forest and what starts as a dream vacation quickly turns into a SCREAM SLAYCATION. Something like that anyway. We dig our heels in and butt heads (sort of) over 2012's CABIN IN THE WOODS from Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon.

Next, it's a trip to the Great White North with a quick stop in Tromaville. There's a serial killer on the loose and no dad is safe. Born out of a fake trailer and made on a budget of $10,000, Astron 6's FATHERS DAY (also from this year) burns a hole in our brains and hearts.

Finally, we extend our stay in Tromaville indefinitely as we take a look at Charles Kaufman's 1980 cult clas-sick MOTHER'S DAY about a pair of backwoods brothers and their sweet, loving, psychotic mother. When a trio of old friends stumble into their territory it's a fight for survival and a test of the limits of friendship.

All this plus witty banter between friends, glitchy Skype noise, fussing, fighting, carrying on, soundboard antics, Junk Mail, DVD & Blu-ray releases, Nerd News and so much more!

JFD105: Smiley Face, Slime City, Fantastic Planet

*cough* *cough* Heeeeeyyy, dude, check it out; Junk Food Dinner is back with another fun-filled episode!

This week, the boys take a walk on the trip-tastic side as we explore three stoner-friendly flicks.

Up first, Anna Faris gets totally baked and has a series of misadventures while trying to run errands in the 2007 pot-comedy Smiley Face, directed by Gregg Araki and featuring appearances by Danny Masterson, John Krasinski and Jane Lynch.

Then, after a young artist moves into his new apartment, he accepts a dinner offer from his strange new neighbors. But after eating colorful pudding and drinking magic wine, he transforms into a slimey killer and discovers the dark history of the apartment in the 1988 spatterfest Slime City, directed by Greg Lamberson.

And finally, we take a trip to a distant world, where human beings are treated as pets at best, and as pests at worst by the giant blue-skinned aliens that dominate the planet. But when a human escapes his master and teams up with a group of fellow renegades, things heat up in the 1973 psychedelic, French animated film Fantastic Planet, directed by René Laloux.

All this plus witty banter between friends, glitchy Skype noise, a pot song by a beloved children's author, soundboard antics, Junk Mail, DVD & Blu-ray releases, Nerd News and so much more!

JFD104: Fighting Mad, Jason Goes to Hell, Wizard of Gore

JFD104 is here! Listen as a grizzled old bounty hunter appears and reveals an entirely new mythology and introduces you to a few new hosts that weren't mentioned on the previous 103 episodes, but were allegedly always there. Also, the Necronomicon will come into play somehow.

First up, a dude is double-crossed and left for dead by his gangster buddies. Naturally, after he's nursed back to health by some Japanese soldiers on a deserted island, he seeks revenge in "Fighting Mad," (aka "Death Force") from 1978.

Then, we celebrate the holiday by enduring 1993's "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday." Jason (Kane Hodder) is killed and has to jump into new bodies before his long-lost family stabs him.

Finally, we talk about Herschell Gordon Lewis' classic "The Wizard of Gore," from 1970. In perhaps the first "torture porn" film ever, Montag the Magnificent mutilates and murders willing volunteers.

JFD103: The Warriors (Audio Commentary)

JFD's 300th movie is upon us. All of us, you included. Especially since you guys picked it! This week in the glorious tradition of our 100th (Howard the Duck) and 200th (C.H.U.D.)films we're all gonna sit down and watch this thing as a family. So grab your running crew, salt the popcorn, and cue up your VHS/DVD copy of Walter Hill's THE WARRIORS (theatrical cut!!) from 1979 and let's get this thing going!

Again, this is not a normal episode and was designed to be played alongside the film. There's a countdown and everything. Real professional like.

No Nerd News, DVD's, or Junk Mail this week. But we got stacks of all three on deck for Episode #104!
