JFD240: Ice Cream Man (full length commentary)

Can you believe we have reviewed 700 goddamn movies on Junk Food Dinner?! We can't, but apparently we have. So, as is our tradition with every 100th movie watched, we are doing a full-length audio commentary for a movie you, the JFD listening audience, voted on; Ice Cream Man from 1995 starring Clint Howard (Evilspeak) and directed by Paul Norman (Edward Penishands, Sperm Bitches).

WARNING: This is not a typical episode of Junk Food Dinner. This is an audio commentary. This episode is meant to be listened to while you watch Ice Cream Man. If you try to listen to this episode and you are not watching Ice Cream Man along with us, a lot of this will not make any sense.

JFD239: Centipede Horror, Going Overboard, Dragon Ball: Fight Son Goku, Win Son Goku

We knew the day would come where we would have to face off with the vaunted Randomizer 5000 once again, we just didn't expect it would be so soon. Yet, that day is here. Brace yourself, Junk Food Junkies - the Randomizer's wrath has no reprieve!

First up, we burrow into Sean's own personal insectoid nightmares with the ghoulish and ghastly Centipede Horror (aka Wu Gong Zhou) from 1982! This early CAT-III flick is one of the crazier Hong Kong bugsploitation movies, as that's really saying something. Maybe don't eat a heavy meal before this one, guys.

Next, things go from bad to worse with everyone's favorite funnyman, Adam Sandler, in 1989's Going Overboard! A pre-SNL/pre-fame/pre-funny Sandler somehow landed the lead role in this boat-bound "comedy", including surprising (until you read this) cameos from Billy Zane and Milton Berle! Cats will be slapped.

Lastly, we travel to a subtitle-free zone in South Korea for 1990's Dragon Ball: Fight Son Goku, Win Son Goku, an unofficial Korean live-action remake of the original Dragon Ball series. There's a whole lot of awkward touching, and then Gamera shows up to bite some dude's dick. Is this really a kids movie?

All this plus friendly banter between wits, the live results of our JFD 700th Movie Commentary poll, Kevin's Wild and Woolly Video Voyages, Parker's Adventures Throughout the Lucha Underground, Sean's Traumatic Insectoid History, a traffic jam of movie releases, Nerd News, our Junky DVD picks for the week, the latest Vine critiques, Double Sheens, listener calls and Junk Mails, sneezes, boogers and so much more!

JFD238: Horns, Call Girl of Cthulu, WolfCop

Hey, Junkies! This week, we continue checking out the delights of 2014 cinema with three more new movies.

First up, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is a young man who's dealing with the fact that everyone in town thinks he killed his girlfriend in "Horns." Things get way worse, or maybe better, when he begins to get Satan-like in appearance. The flick is directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Piranha 3D) and based on a book by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son).

Next, the team that brought us The WNUF Halloween Special return with their Kickstarter-funded "Call Girl of Cthulu." A young nerd and his prostitute love interest run afoul of a cult that worships ancient alien gods and need the Necronomicon to summon them. Or something. Get ready for Deep Ones and things that are Unamable.

Finally, a drunk cop is turned into a werewolf as a part of a nefarious plan. "Wolf Cop" is directed by Lowell Dean and is a throw-back to a time when cops were sometimes monsters. Literally, we mean. Not the kind of monsters they are now.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Parker's return, low milk, Junk Mail, GWAR stories, Nerd News, DVD & Blu-ray releases, a bad Austin Powers voice, The Brain redux and so much more.

JFD237: Blue Ruin, Guardians of the Galaxy, Autómata

Welp, Halloween season's over, butthorns, and as 2014 starts winding down JFD calls upon foundingmember Mark Freado Jr to join us to examine some flicks from the past year.

Up first, up-and-coming direct Jeremy Saulnier weaves a tale about a Virginia man, Dwight (Macon Blair), who has become a vagrant after the murder of his parents. But when he gets the news that the man responsible for their deaths is released from prison, Dwight goes into full revenge mode in Blue Ruin.

Then, it's not often that JFD tackles one of the biggest films of the year, but in the case of Guardians of the Galaxy, it was too good to be ignored. Director James Gunn (Slither, Super) brings a culty vibe to this comic book tale about a space loser (Chris Pratt) and his gang of misfits who are trying to transport a valuable orb across the cosmos.

Finally, Spanish director Gabe Ibáñez mixes a bit of Blade Runner and a dash of District 9, to create a futuristic tale where where the human population has dwindled and relies on robots to do the work once done by humans. But when Antonio Banderas discovers that the robots may be self-aware, he goes on a quest to protect mankind in Autómata.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Halloween regrets, low milk, Junk Mail, video mix tapes, Nerd News, DVD & Blu-ray releases, touching stories, Freado's ever-present Skype noise, Buzz from Home Alone, condoms stretched over pineapples and so much more.
