JFD380: It's Alive, Octaman, Zaat

Crawl on up outta the water, creeps! It's our slimy Monster Fish Men theme show! This week we're delivering you the soggiest trio of underwater jams this side of the black lagoon!

First up! Our man Larry Buchanan manages to lure greenlisted teen idol Tommy Kirk into a prehistoric cave of mystery and mayhem in 1969's It's Alive! It's a fish-man movie, not the Larry Cohen baby flick, trust us.

Next! Is it man? Is it fish? Is it octopus? Nah, it's 1971's Octaman, and it's really something else. He's the eight-legged dude that's gonna make ya say "Oh shit, it's Octaman!"

Finally, the Monster Fish Man film that spawned it all, 1971's Zaat. And what exactly has it spawned? The only way to know for sure is to listen to us chat about it.

All this plus witty banter between slimy dudes, the unexpected return of Norman Bates Junior, another bunch of crybaby clowns in the public sphere, racist cartoon lawsuits, the invention of Nice-Skates (tm) and the Sad Saga of Grampa Larry, a shout-out to the interns in the digital animation department of Disney Junior, our weekly news and Blu-ray Picks, an assumed lack of overt police involvement, half-wet sneezes, super-mega belches, armpit farts, the untold benefits of podcasting, fully-brominated vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more!
