Next, Arnold Schwarzenegger is forced to fight for his life on a deadly game show in 1987's The Running Man, based on a book by Stephen King and co-starring Jesse Ventura, Yaphet Kotto and Richard Dawson.

Finally, summer campers get stuck in a cave after a big fart, so they pass the time talking about their first sexual encounters in Troma's The First Turn on! from 1983, directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz.

Many of the films released by The Cannon Group (aka Cannon Films) in and around the 1980s have established themselves as cult classics. This week, we'll take a look at three cult gems produced by Israeli cousins Menahem Golan (director of The Apple) and Yoram Globus, who purchased Cannon for $500,000 in 1979. In doing so, we'll encounter sex, lies, videotape, deodorants, big feetsmen, boom boxes, rap talkers, and belts aplenty.

First up, Roy Scheider's being blackmailed by a trio of well-cast blackmailers led by John Glovers (Gremlins 2: The New Batch) while his wife (Ann-Margret) tries to run for city councilwoman. With his mistress, Kelly Preston (Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared Sin) already brutally offed by the blackmailers, how will Scheider ensure his wife's safety while pitting his foes against each other? Find out in our first Cannon film of the evening, 1986's 52 Pick-Up!

Next, we throw down the cardboard and start dancing to the rap talker's beat, with 1984's Breakin'! A frustrated young jazz dancer played by Lucinda Dickey meets up with two break-dancers, O-Zone and Turbo. Together they become the sensation of the street crowds, which includes Jean-Claude Van Damme for no reason. Also, Ice-T is the rap talker for this film.

Finally, it's the apocalypse but that's neggy a bad thing as that sasquatch is totally hot plastic. The comedic post-apocalyptic VHS classic adventure flick America 3000 from 1986 has a bigfoot with a boom box. What else could you ask for?

JFD158: Death Wish, Death Wish 2, Death Wish 3

Creeps, low-lifes, scumbags, hoodlums and petty thieves beware! This week on JFD, it's all about Charles Bronson cleaning up the streets as we examine the first three Death Wish films.

Up first, Charles Bronson stars as Paul Kersey, a liberal architect in New York City. But when a group of thugs (including a young Jeff Goldblum) attack his family, leaving his wife dead and his daughter in a catatonic state, Paul is forced to take the law into his own hands. Armed with his new .32 Colt revolver, Paul hits the filthy streets of the Big Apple and begins a vigilante killing spree. Soon Paul is making the news and gaining the attention of the police chief Frank Ochoa played by Vincent Gardenia in the 1974 crime drama that started it all, Death Wish.

Then, Bronson is back as Paul Kersey, only this time he and his daughter have relocated to L.A., but Paul quickly learns that The City of Angels is not much better than New York, when another group of thugs (this time including a young Lawrence Fishburn) wreak havoc on his family. Of course, it's not long before Paul is taking his .380 Beretta pistol out for some more creep hunting, all while trying to avoid the cops (including a reprise role from Vincent Gardenia) in the long-awaited sequel Death Wish 2 from 1982.

And finally, our hero Paul Kersey moves back to New York only to find his friend dead and his neighborhood overrun by cartoonish punks (this time including a young Alex Winter) who are menacing the innocent folks of the community. Needless to say, Charles Bronson isn't going to just sit around and let this happen, as he is soon, once again, mowing down scumbags left and right in the most over-the-top and violent entry into the series, Death Wish 3 from 1985.

JFD157: Bellflower, Phenomena, The Stabilizer

This week, we do three flicks suggested by and voted on by the listeners!

First, two slacker friends spend all their time planning for an apocalypse when they're hit with reality in 2011's "Bellflower," directed by, written by and starring Evan Glodell. This flick was shot for a measly $17,000 and has a beautiful and unique look to it. Also, flame throwers and stuff.

Next, Jennifer Connelly is a young girl who can telepathically speak to insects. Needless to say, she teams up with Donald Pleasence and a lazer-guided chimp to catch a serial killer in Dario Argento's 1985 flick "Phenomena," aka "Creepers."

Finally, Indonesian director Arizal brings us a tale of justice, revenge, explosions and almost being Sylvester Stallone in 1986's "The Stabilizer," released in the US by Troma.

JFD155: The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead (2013)

Grab your shotgun and your chainsaw and take a trip with JFD into a secluded cabin in the woods! With the release of the remake of one of the most beloved cult horror films of all time, we decided to take an in-depth look at the infamous Evil Dead series of films.

Up first, we dig into the movie that started it all. You know the plot; five friends travel to a small cabin in the forest, looking for a good time, but when they find a tape recorder and mysterious book in cellar, all hell breaks lose as the young people begin to turn into evil demons and it's up to Bruce Campbell to try and stop it in the 1981 directorial debut of Sam Raimi, The Evil Dead.

Next, we head back to the cabin for even more demonic hi-jinx. Bruce Campbell returns as Ash in this sequel/remake, that finds him again at a secluded cabin with his girlfriend. Once again a mysterious book and tape recorder unleash demons from another world that cause a variety of gory and zany things to happen to anyone that happens to stop by, in the horror-comedy classic Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn from 1987.

And finally, we head out to the theater to catch the brand new entry under the Evil Dead imprint, the Fede Alvarez directed remake/reboot Evil Dead from 2013. This new version gained a lot of buzz before its release for promising to remain true to the spirit of the original and deliver an onslaught of practical gore effects. Does it live up to the hype? You'll have to tune in to find out.

First, Dennis Hopper is a private eye in a (literally) magical '50s Hollywood in "Witch Hunt" from 1994. Paul Schrader (Hardcore, The Canyons) directs this made-for-HBO movie, co-starring Eric Bogosian as a McCarthy-esque senator and Julian Sands as a creepy German or Irish guy or something.

Then, abused and forbidden to leave his home, a man-child breaks free, in 1993's "Bad Boy Bubby." Hailed as a (cult) classic of Australian cinema, this dark and experimental film has been frequently recommended by JFD listeners.

Finally, two mismatched cops (in the the Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours vein) are on the trail of drug smugglers, in the under-the-radar (in America, anyway) Hong Kong action flick from 1988 "Tiger on the Beat," starring Chow Yun-Fat and Chia Hui Liu (Kill Bill).

JFD153: Slumber Party Massacre 3, Toad Warrior, Child's Play 3

It's our third birthday and our cake is frosted with tears. After three trips around the sun (and hundreds to the moon) Mark is stepping down. It's not all sad though, you get to find out who is taking his place (Spoiler: you'll feel pretty good about it), and obviously we're gonna talk about some movies and crack jokes. Since it's a celebration we're skipping Nerd News and DVDs this week so we can share our top 3 and bottom 3 picks of films we covered on the show from this last year. We know you're thinking "Dang! That's a lot already, what else though?" Well, we'll tell you what else.

You know how much we like themes and running jokes and stuff right? Well it's our third birthday so naturally we thought it would be fun to take a look at three Part 3's. The catch was we had to have already covered parts 1 and 2.

Up first, it's more pillow fights and sleepless nights. After a rousing game of beach volleyball some teens get together to eat dessert and talk about boys, but you can't sleep with the sound of a roaring drill in your ear! It's 1990's SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE III!

Next, Donald G. Jackson, Scott Shaw, and some friends got together under and overpass and decides to make another Frogtown movie. It's zen filmmaking and yes you have been reading all of this correctly. Can you believe how long ago we covered HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN? Man, time flies. (Get it?) Anyway, we're talking FROGTOWN 3: THE TOAD WARRIOR.

And finally we get all dolled up, just for you guys. Chucky returns with teeth and tenacity and also the ability to mail himself around. It's military school mayhem with plenty of one liners to boot. CHILD'S PLAY 3 rounds out this landmark episode.

Boom Shaka Laka! The world's #1 cult movie and basketball podcast finally gets around to covering not one, not two, but THREE basketball-themed horror comedies.

Up first, Michael J. Fox is Scott, a teenager going through some changes. But unlike your average pubescent experience, Scott's transformation into manhood is a bit more supernatural. Fortunately, he is able to use his new found powers to dominate on the court, in the 1985 hit comedy Teen Wolf.

Then, two goofy aliens steal a doomsday device (shaped like a basketball, of course) and accidentally find themselves on Earth. When the destructive force known as Mr. Armageddon is released from the basketball, he unleashes an army of monsters onto an unsuspecting high school. Now the helpless teens need to take on Mr. Armageddon in a game of hoops to save the world in 1989's Monster High.

And finally, a high school basketball equipment manager is trying to make the team while the team's captains are being picked off one by one by a mysterious killer. Meanwhile, famous impressionist Fred Travalena hams it up as multiple characters in the extremely wacky Night of the Dribbler from 1990.

JFD151: Video Diary of a Lost Girl, A Million in the Morning, Operation Pink Squad 2

Kevin's off this week to hang out at some SXSW thing in Boston, but Mark and Parker hold things down here with the help of friend of the show, Sean Byron and the JFD Grampa.

First, a girl's supernatural origins cause death for anyone she sleeps with in 2012's "Video Diary of a Lost Girl." We're joined by the director and writers Lindsay Denniberg and Chris Shields to talk about the film, influences, surrealism, Peter North, the benefits of friends in bands and lots more.

Next, a documentary about marathon movie-watching gets derailed by an exhausted, drunken Gavin McInnes in 2010's "A Million in the Morning." Originally meant to be a straight documentary about a Netflix contest to crown a new world record for most movies watched with no sleep, host Gavin McInnes (VICE, Street Carnage) takes the production dangerously off the rails.

Directed by Jeffrey Lau This flick is beyond crazy from start to finish and features non-chalant turd revelations, air humping, remote control helicopter ghost fighters, elves, ghost rape, toe sucking and so much more.

Behold, Junkies! Another landmark episode! We've hit another milestone in to kick off what we're about to start referring to as Milestone March - it's our 150th episode! Let's dig in!

Up first, we FINALLY (we know you've been waiting) get to tackle a true classic in every sense of the word - GHOST DAD. Bill Cosby is Elliot Hopper overworked and underloved and he's having a rough day! After hailing the cab of a devout satanist, on the way to broker a huge deal for his company - Hopper ends up at the bottom of a river. He doesn't stay there for long as his restless spirit returns to bang his neighbor, freak out old people, and help his son do magic tricks. Sidney Poitier directs this masterpiece from 1990.

Next - a tour of hell filtered through the lens of the Dark Brothers! What could be better? Did we mention this was a porno with a bouncy (see what we did there?) new wave soundtrack? Lois Ayres is Justine Jones in THE DEVIL IN MISS JONES 3: A NEW BEGINNING!

Finally, another oft requested Troma adventure. The beaches are overrun with gangs (you knew that) but none so notorious as the Surf Nazis. A Spookies Celebration!

This movie has it all: Exploding Grim Reapers, a dude who wears a shirt of himself with a puppet, farting mud mummies, people getting old, blue cat gypsy mens and so much more! JFD149: Godzilla 1985, Cloverfield, Attack of the 50 ft. Cheerleader

Tonight we've got a really big show! Get it? It's a pun! We're doing three movies about giant monsters!

First and foremost, the king of the monsters returns to wreak havoc on Japan in Godzilla: 1985. After many years without Godzilla, (in both the story and in real life), the monster returns, threatening Japan with its destructive power, and by causing worldwide nuclear tensions.

Next, a giant beast rises from the sea in time to crash a party in 2008's Cloverfield. Directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In) and written by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods), this is a smart, modern (found footage) take on giant monsters.

Finally, a college nerd is turned into a huge sexy athlete in 2012's Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader. Roger Corman produced this made-for-cable late night comedy, that features JFD favorites like Mary Woronov, Ted Raimi and John Landis.

JFD148: Westworld, RoboCop, Blade Runner

We're on the homestretch of Sci Fi Ebruary with this week's robot theme show!

First, an amusement park full of androids experiences technical difficulties in 1973's "Westworld." Written and directed by Michael Crichton, this flick features Yul Brynner in his iconic, frightening and influential role as The Gunslinger.

Next, After his gruesome death, Officer Murphy (Peter Weller) is brought back to to clean up Detroit in RoboCop from 1987. Paul Veerhoeven (Total Recall, Starship Troopers) directs this masterpiece of violent satire.

Finally, it's up to Harrison Ford to hunt down escaped robots in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner from 1982. Rutger Hauer and Daryl Hannah co-star in this stylish sci fi benchmark.

Junk Food Dinner keeps on slippin' slippin' slippin' into the future. Or the past. Or you know, wherever. That's right, Junkies, it's time travel week in our Sci-Fi-ebruary celebration! Put your goggle on and let's go!

Up first, a marvel of science and fiction to be sure. Shane Carruth directs and stars in the 2004 low-budget high-concept head-scratcher - PRIMER. Two friends working on a weekend project in the garage fall ass backwards into a world of ethical troubles and a laundry list of paradoxes when they accidentally invent time travel. Will they figure out the best (if any) way to you use their new found invention? Spoiler: Yes, kind of. But also kind of not. Join us in our confusion!

Next, a host of slackers from a big fancy magazine set out to find the man who posted the classified ad claiming to need a partner to travel through time with (and who owns their own weapons). Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Kristin Bell, and more star in this quirky tale about what it means to appreciate the time you have - SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED from 2012.

Finally, we dip our toes into the ocean of classics as we take a look at Charleton Heston's finest monkey-themed film 1968's PLANET OF THE APES. A crew of astronauts crash lands on a strange (OR IS IT?) planet and meet up with a race of ca-razy apes! Penned by Rod Serling and a monument to effects make-up this one doesn't monkey around. (Sorry.)

I realize this bit of Nerd News is not that "junky" as there are no giant rubber monsters (unless you count Ralph Nader), but here's a trailer for an upcoming political documentary titled "Of By For." I think if you're into politics, this will be right up your alley. And if you're not into politics, this is probably even more up your alley.

One of the guys behind the film, Aaron Keith Harris is a great dude I worked with for a while and has been on Pool Party Radio a few times. In fact, he was recently on this episode to talk about the documentary and about America's best and worst presidents. It's one of my favorite episodes.

Parker vs. Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell

A long time ago, I reviewed Wishmaster and Wishmaster 2 with the intent to do the whole series (the way I did with Saw an even longer time ago). But I forgot all about it. Or maybe I was just too bummed out to watch the final two Wishmaster films because Andrew Divoff (The Djinn) left the franchise to be a Russian on Lost for a couple episodes. He probably did other stuff in life, too, I guess. And I felt that a Wishmaster divided itself would not be able to stand! Five minutes into this third instalment, my fears were confirmed.

We begin with a blonde woman having nightmares stemming from her survivor's guilt about her family dying in a horrific accident that she lived through. This is so similar to the first WM movie that it's exactly like the first WM movie. Would you be willing to bet that like WM1's protagonist, this girl gets over her guilt to save the day? We also learn that her name is Diana and she has a boyfriend that she may or may not like. In fact, during an early scene, she finds her boyfriend talking to a girl who tells Diana that her boyfriend is going to cheat on her. I assumed this was a subtle way to foreshadow the fact that the boyfriend would cheat on Diana later in the movie, but I was totally wrong. They're instead foreshadowing the fact that this girl is (mostly) slutty and will be (mostly) naked later because she (totally) comes on to the Djinn.

Diana, a student of some sort, is toying around with ancient artifacts (i.e. spare puzzle boxes from Hellraiser 6) and finds the Djinn's prison, a small ruby. There were no puzzle boxes in the previous films, so is this a different genie locked in a similar stone? Or the same genie (played by a new guy), but somehow he got locked in a Lament Configuration sometime between WM2 and WM3? And was that the same leprechaun in all the Leprechaun movies? Friday the 13th 5 really fucked with my head at a young age and now I distrust the identities of all slashers.

Anyway, so Diana discovers the stone and then peaces out on her teacher (cuz he totally tried to hit on her and then gets rejected HARD). Then the Djinn just shows up. He walks out of the bathroom or something and he's just in frame somehow. This is a total bummer and cop out because parts 1 and 2 set the rule that when the Djinn is summoned, he starts out as a weird fetus and needs to get stronger through wishes. I guess they nixed that part of the mythology because money, time and talent weren't part of this director's toolbox. This director, by the way, is only notable for directing WM3, WM4 and a Dexter iPhone app*

So, the Djinn shows up and we can tell that no one even cared about writing this movie because the professor sees him and goes "Jesus" and the Djinn says "Not even close" and it's like the entire Hellraiser series just passed before your eyes. The Djinn blackmails the teacher into helping him by reminding him of the fact that he's a rapist. He does this by faking an orgasm. It's pretty fucking nonsensical. The Djinn also offers him a wish cuz they're solid bros now apparently. The professor wishes for a hot chick. No! Two hot chicks, he says, catching himself before making the silly mistake of only wishing for one measly hot chick. So, two hot naked chicks show up and start making out with the dude while this hulking demon monster watches and gets visibly aroused. The Djinn is moaning, licking his lips and at one point even cups his hands in the air like he's playing a pair of air titties.

Then the naked ladies eat the teacher. There's no clever wordplay involved, no saucy pun, no Twilight Zone-esque twist. The guy wished for chicks and he got them. But they killed him. And so the deaths go in this flimsy excuse for a movie. No more cute wish-tricks that we've been accustomed to. The next kill scene involves a secretary (or someone) wishing for "a mountain of flames" to destroy her paperwork so she can go home. I've never seen a "mountain of flames," so I got a little excited. But, then the Djinn just sets her on fire. Well, not her, but a stuntman in a similar cardigan. Not one piece of paper is engulfed. The Djinn didn't even really fulfil the main part of the wish! There's also a death scene where The Djinn is holding a dude by his throat, asking him to make a wish and the dude's all "Blow me, bro!" And the genie just blows air out of his mouth and the dude floats into some antlers on the wall, getting impaled, like he's a bag of moldy Kiefer Sutherlands. But, how cool would this movie be if the Djinn was compelled to grant his wish and reluctantly sucked that dude's dick to completion? I bet the Djinn would feel so violated.

Then some other bullshit happens. Diana screams, all sweaty, into the camera for a while. And during an obligatory research scene, someone says "The myth of Madea is seriously sick and twisted," which is kind of funny and during a college kid sex scene, the guy goes "Behave!" like Austin Powers, so that brought me back to the good ol' days. There's also a completely needless scene where The Djinn (disguised as the dead professor) teaches a class about how the genies started the Trojan War.

Diana wishes to be protected by the archangel Michael (because WM2 ushered in all that weird Christian mythology and WM3 is happy to keep on keepin' on) but it's not even cool. Basically all that happens is her boyfriend gets a sword and a deeper voice. Couldn't the Djinn have come up with a way to turn this into a trick wish? He couldn't have summoned John Travolta's character from "Michael" rather than the actual Conqueror of Satan? Seems like a bad move to grant this one wish straight up. He should have pulled some cute shit.

Anyway, good triumphs over evil and the angel goes back to heaven and blah blah. This movie is terrible and it's easy to see why Andrew Divoff wanted no part of it. I should have had no parts of it, too. That being said, I'll probably watch WM4 soon because I'll fell empty if I don't finish these off.

*Or maybe it's a short film or a cartoon or a DVD special feature. I can't find much about it.
