JFD175: The Getaway, The Good The Bad The Weird, Race with the Devil!

Buckle up, knuckleheads! Junk Food Dinner's first annual SHOCK & AWEGUST drives onwards with this week's action themed show: Chase Movies! Join us as we examine three very different cult chase films.

Up first, Steve McQueen plays an ex-convict on the run after a failed bank heist threatens to send him back to prison in Sam Peckinpah's 1972 film THE GETAWAY! Low-key heist scenes, fast-paced chase scenes, and casual barbecue rib tossing collide in this movie written by Jim Thompson and Walter Hill!

Then, we race over to 1930's Manchuria, where three ruthless men chase each other across desert wastelands in search of a treasure map in South Korea's 2008 comedic western action flick THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD. Director Kim Jee-Woon and star Byung-hun Lee of I Saw the Devil re-team for this cartoonish tribute to spaghetti westerns, and are joined in the process by actors Woo-sung Jung (Reign of Assassins) and Kang-ho Song (The Host).

Finally, take out the ol' RV for a leisurely drive across Texas, until murderous Satanists force us to RACE WITH THE DEVIL in this 1975 grindhouse classic starring Peter Fonda and Warren Oates. Marvel at the wonderful features of this luxury Winnebago, from the essentials like the Roman Bath to the exotics like the Live Rattlesnakes, as we barrel down the highway towards Amarillo.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Sad Nerd News, this week's DVD & blu-ray releases, bad skypeness, complete confidentiality, no police involvement, bullshit CG hawks, the return of the Sweet Man, finger choppers, Junk (voice)Mails, and so much more!
