JFD227: Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome

We bid Shock and Awegust a fond farewell this week, but before we pack up our machine guns and motorcycles, we pay homage to potentially the greatest Ozploitation trilogy of all time, the Mad Max trilogy directed by George Miller and starring Mel Gibson!

First up, the one that started it all, the outback revenge classic Mad Max, from 1979! This low-budget action flick was a surprise mega-hit and was the most profitable film of all time for a long-ass time. It has Toecutter.

Next up, we hit the road in an Oil Tanker From Hell with Mad Max in 1981's sequel The Road Warrior! Leather-clad bad-asses lead by the evil Lord Humongous are trying to steal some gasoline, and Max gets caught up in the middle. It's crazy.

Finally, we tackle our final Mad Max flick for the show, 1985's sometimes maligned Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome! Tina Turner and a wrestler/midget combination run the pig-feces-methane plant at Bartertown, but Max takes a break from all that jazz to hang out with the children. Hey, it looks good.

All this plus the wittiest banter between friends, GWAR Chat, Wienerschnitzel’s sub-par Burgers, Lots of Love, Kissing Contest’s Disappointing Voicemail Contest, Nerd News, Rats of Humans, Krypto the Super Dog, Large Marge eyes, burps, sneezes, boogers and so much more!
