JFD213: Gojira, Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster, Godzilla (2014)

Oh, no! There goes Tokyo! This week JFD goes Godzilla!

First up, we meet up with the grand-daddy of them all, the original King of the Kaiju, 1954’s Gorjia! Black and white, moody, and with a higher caliber of acting, the original film stands alone from the series. Spoiler alert: Tokyo gets smashed.

Next up, we trip out to the groovy sounds on Mount Fuji with 1971’s Godzilla vs the Smog Monster! Bizarre pollution monster Hedorah takes on Godzilla, and only a weak-ass band of bearded longhairs stands in his way. And some little kid, of course.

Finally, we break out of our caves and venture bravely into the real world to see the new Godzilla from 2014! We’ve had our checkered past with the glutton of cult remakes/reboots/rehashes Hollywood has thrown our way recently, but how will we react to the big guy’s return to the screen? Well, why are you asking me? Just listen already.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Mike-sell’s Potato Chips, Sean Byron: The Freddy Krueger of Facebook, VHS Conventions Chat, Monster Skepticism, That One Time in Bakersfield with the Evangelion Movie, Gearing up for Halloween, Surprising Eyepatches, Heavy Factory Doobies and so much more!
