JFD198: Sci-Fi Ebuary II: Week One - Robots! Metoroporisu, R.O.T.O.R., Futureworld

Nerds, break out your pocket protectors because Sci-Fi Ebuary II is here to break your pencils. First up in our second year: Robot Week! We boldly go where few podcasters have gone before with three very different robotics related flicks!

First up, Metoroporisu, from 2001! A loose interpretation of the original 1927 Fritz Lang film, this anime from Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy), Rintaro (Galaxy Express 999), and Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) is a visual feast for the eyes, even when it's kinda copying Blade Runner.

Next up, opinions are fiercely split on the seemingly controversial R.O.T.O.R., a bad Terminator rip-off made by first-time/last-time "filmmakers" in Texas! You'll never guess who likes and dislikes this low-budget fiasco, unless you've listened to our program before.

Finally, we return to the well of Westworld with the Peter Fonda-starring Futureworld, a movie with one romantic dream sequence containing a dancing Yul Brynner and several more really dumb things.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Murderous Robots, Towering Ziggurats, Sweetman's Clown Posse, Man's Best Friend, Joe Dante News, Superbowl Madness, Bad Dubbing, Fonda Bush and so much more!
