Merry Christmas, from your pals at Junk Food Dinner! This week, we get into the holiday spirit with three films loosely centered around the season.
Up first, Divine plays Dawn Davenport, a high school delinquent who gets so upset that she doesn't get a pair of cha cha heels for Christmas that she runs away from home, gets knocked up, shacks up with a hair dresser and becomes the subject of crime-based photography in John Waters' campy classic Female Trouble from 1974.
Then, Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler, Marisa Coughlan and Jerry O'Connell are crew members are crew members on a futuristic, yet retro space station. They struggle with relationships, loneliness and celebrate Christmas in Jack Plotnick's stylish space drama/comedy Space Station 76 from 2014.
Finally, we travel to New Zealand, where a little girl befriends monsters and battles a witch in order to get all the monsters' voices back in the insanely surreal 1981 made-for-tv holiday special The Monster's Christmas.
All this plus witty banter between friends, Nerd News, incorrect predictions about the future of The Interview, our Junky DVD picks for the week, Aerosmith jokes, anticipation of Clayton Miller DVDs, kangaroos with boxing gloves and so much more!
