JFD365: Mad Bull 34, Serial Experiments Lain, The Dragon Dentist

If you're sad like we're sad and you're not sure why, it's probably because everyone's favorite new Junk Food Dinner theme month of 2017 (so far) - Ani-May, is finally coming to an end. But fret not, faithful junkie - we're closing it out in grand fashion with a trio of actual, genuine, Japanese anime flicks (or shows, or something)!

First up! You'll never believe the crazy hijinks (both sexual and violent in nature) going on in Mad Bull 34 (from 1990). It's one of those standard buddy cop flicks where dudes get their heads lopped off by oncoming trains, if you get my drift. You'll love this one.

Next! Sean channels his inner goth teenage girl with 1998's stylish but sleepy Serial Experiments Lain! It's got enough shots of power lines to keep him interested, but will Kevin or Parker give any fucks?

Finally, a film that Parker Bowman has been waiting for, for a long time. The Dragon Dentist from 2017 marks a certain milestone for Mr. Bowman on a certain Letterboxd website, which is meaningful somehow. Also, dragons get their dental hygiene looked after. It's Japanimation!

All this plus witty banter between friends, The Frisbie Opinion, Eric from Omaha, a Julian Sands classic our beloved Parker Bowman hasn't seen, monsters made out of nipples and shitty crap about time travel, Kevin Moss lying through his teeth about Oldies dot com, a Hot Topic Monster Mash, a Whitman's Sampler of super ghoulish horror flicks, them weekly news and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, half-dry sneezes, wet belches, mega-decrepit erections, semi-brominated vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more!
