JFD178: Blood Diner, The Canyons, Perfect Blue!

Our weird September continues with a trio of flicks that have pretty much nothing in common with each other, except that we had to watch them, and now you'll have to hear us talk about them!

First on the show is BLOOD DINER from 1987! Directed by Jackie Kong, this horror comedy is an homage to the classic HG Lewis Blood Feast, but also much more. It features one of the finest deep-fried-topless-girl-head-decapation scenes in all of cinema, we're sure you'll agree.

Next, we head to the Hollywood Hills with Lindsay Lohan and a gaggle of porn dudes for 2013's THE CANYONS. Funded by Kickstarter, this is writer Bret Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader's film that is about something. Yeah, something. It has some boobs.

We close out this week's episode with a rare JFD foray into anime territory with 1997's PERFECT BLUE! This psychological thriller from animation legend Satoshi Kon uses hyper-detailed artwork to convey a Brian DePalma-esque story of insanity, sexuality, and violence.

All this plus witty banter between friends, Nerd News, this week's DVD + blu-ray releases, Foot Locker logos, complete confidentiality, no police involvement, Lohan Boobs, voicemail marathons, the VHS section of Amoeba Music Hollywood, and so much more!
