JFD445: Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, A Smoky Mountain Christmas, Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys

It's Christmas at the JFD offices, and somebody's spiked the eggnog. Our picks are getting mixed up and our signals are getting crossed. How'd we end up with this trio of TV movies, you ask? Get ready for a holiday-themed podcasting experience like none other!

Up first! It's a classic undersung gem of holiday muppetry: Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas from 1977! It's supposedly the tale of an otter and his poor single mother, but everybody knows it's really about that wild snake and his rock and roll band.

Next up! It's 1986's A Smoky Mountain Christmas, which as you would expect is of course a made for TV movie starring Dolly Parton, Dan Hedeya, and Lee Majors. Oh, and it's got a Mountain Man (played by Lee Majors).

Finally! It's a third movie: Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys, which does qualify as a movie technically, and did see the light of day in 2004. It's a non-canonical (surprise!) entrant into the series of puppet-based horror films. This time: it's Christmas. Also: they got the Feldman. And we gotta deal with it.

All this plus A Classic X-mas Mixup, Sean watches movies nobody cares about, Parker watches movies everyone hates, Kevin watches Gremlins, an interesting amount of unidentified background noise, reasonable rates on calls to the North Pole, did anyone Freado a pick this year?, Little Nemo related memories, Parker sounds like he might have a cold (based on sneezes), a surprising amount of Brexit support, Parker is blocked by Edgar Wright on Twitter, the magic is still real for some of us, Kevin drops the phrase "technical muppetry" with little to no fanfare, a Smoky Mountain No-No, our weekly news & Blu-ray Picks, what even is a Skype?, no mention of ride-giving, holiday beats and a whole lot more!
